Forces Sweetheart

Ch.m. The Lieutenant-Esken Lady by Eskendereya (February 21,2020) in NY

Forces Sweetheart ‘Bella’ has lived here before she even knew it. Her mother, Esken Lady, was here when she was in foal with her. Sweetheart was our first foal out of Lady. She was given the barn name ‘Bella’ after Cristyn’s daughter named Isabella.

As a weanling, Sweetheart truly lived up to her name as she was genuinely a sweetheart. She loved, and still does, resting her head on

your shoulder and nuzzling her nose into your face. She did not get the memo that she was a chestnut mare.

For her racing career, she was a NY bred, ran under Westwood Thoroughbreds & Make A Run Stable. Her first time out at Gulfstream park in south Florida on November 5th, 2022, she got 1st place. Sweetheart ran in the Stallion Series at Aqueduct in NY in December 2022. She then, first experienced mud in her face. She was not a fan. I mean what distinguished lady does?

On March 23, 2023 she ran again at Gulfstream park and got 1st place. Another win picture for dad!

As the year went on, our trainer found she had a strange fracture in her knee. She came home to RI for some rest & relaxation to heal.

Our lovely vets at Ocean State Equine Associates did a full lameness exam and x-rays. There was in fact an injury.

As time went on, Sweetheart was healing nicely.

Mom fell in love and did not want her to go back to racing.

Sweetheart now lives in a paddock on the property.

24/7 of beautiful pasture to graze and run at her leisure.

Because of her, we started Welcome Pastures. A thoroughbred aftercare sanctuary for horses just like her!

Help us help more horses like Sweetheart!

"The JY" / Barn Name Jay

TB, B, G. Discreet Cat - Without Delay by Seeking the Gold (February 21, 2013) in NY

Race Name: ‘The Jy’ / Barn Name: Jay

Jay is the pack leader, usually found right by Sweetheart’s side. He came to us through the ‘New Vocations Retired Racehorse Network’ with Max (Scary Situation), and they were a bonded pair. Jay had 27 starts and won races before retiring due to injuries. His favorite snacks are apples, carrots, and peppermints. He loves people and soaks up all the attention he can get.

V-LO

DK B, G. Laoban-Esken Lady by Eskendereya (April 12, 2021) NY

V-Lo

Retired racehorse from GMP Farm

Likes: Attention. Head and neck scratches make me fall asleep.

Dislikes: Commotion. Please don’t take it personally if I’m off grazing by myself

—I sometimes get a little nervous when all the horses are crowded together. I’m actually very friendly! I don’t usually eat apples or carrots, but I do love a peppermint every now and then.

Scary Situation aka Max

TB, CH, G. Giant Surprise - Rock Star Royalty by Five Star Day (March 22, 2017) in NY

Race Name: ‘Scary Situation’ / Barn Name: Max

Max came to us from the ‘New Vocations Retired Racehorse Network’ with Jay (the JY). They were a bonded pair. Max never made it to the races as he was injured right before training. He has a huge scar on his hind leg, which we think of as a beautiful star that shows his strength! Max is incredibly lovable and doesn’t realize how big he is, standing at 17.2 HH. He’s such a ham, always smiling for photos. He doesn’t understand personal space and loves being around his human companions.

Max loves all snacks—carrots, apples, and peppermints.

Highland Cattle

Our highland cattle, aka our ‘lawn ornaments’.

Momma, Minnie, Piccata, and Parm

Momma, Minnie, Piccata, and Parm are all VERY friendly. Momma, Minnie, and Picatta are all related. Parm on the other hand, was an orphan. You will typically see her a little aways from the other three. Have no fear, she gets plenty of love!

All cows love apples and carrots. They love to lick humans with their rough tongue. (Great exfoliant! lol)

Parm’s & Picatta’s names are purely playful as they will never be a parmesan or piccata dish.

You can find these beautiful girls in the middle paddock.

Around their paddock is a half mile track.
